Cardette supports all existing memory card formats such as: CompactFlash Types I & II (CF), MicroDrive, Memory Stick (MS), MemoryStick Duo* (MS Duo), Memory Stick PRO Duo* (MS PRO Duo), Memory Stick Pro*, MultiMediaCard (MMC), Reduced Size MultiMediaCard *(RS-MMC), SecureDigital (SD), miniSD*, microSD* and eXtremeDigital (xD-Picture). It is also tested to comply with the emerging SecureDigital High Capacity (SDHC) standard as well as the specialty Type M and high speed Type H xD memory cards - making Cardette one of the very few future-proof card readers out on the market today.
Cardette conveniently links to your Mac via USB 2.0 which is 40 times faster than USB 1.1 connections, while still maintaining backward compatibility with USB 1.1 ports on older computers. It draws power directly from the USB port, so there are no external power adaptors required. In addition, Moshi decided to include a detachable strap, so you can conveniently attach it to your bag and carry this nice looking card reader/flash drive around. Moshi Cardette Black Instructions
1. Plug Cardette into any unused USB port (USB 2.0 preferred for faster transfer rate) on your computer. For USB ports that are not easily accessible, an extension cord is included for your convenience.
2. Rule of thumb during card insertion: in almost all cases, insert the card with the labeling sticker facing upright and metal contacts facing down.
3. If you feel resistance inserting card at the slot entrance, most likely you've inserted the wrong card type or the card is in the wrong orientation. Never use excessive force inserting the memory card, doing so could damage both Cardette and the memory card.
4. After successful memory card installation, your computer should recognize it almost immediately (either as a pop-up drive icon in Mac OSX or as a removable storage drive in Windows.)
5. The integrated USB 2.0 hub can supply up to 300 mA of power, which is sufficient for powering most USB peripherals such as flash drives, MP3 players, mouse, keyboard and PC cameras. Separate power may be required for devices such as external hard drives or DVD drives when attached to Cardette.
